I've been attacked by a cockroach
So winter is pretty much a dead season for cockroaches and naturally I've had my radar off. Well, last night as I was all but naked as I hadn't put my PJ's on yet I reached into my nightstand drawer and grabbed something out. Immediately the giant critter ran across the side of my palm sending me into instant and uncontrollable hysterics. My arms started flailing and I was completely unaware of where my jumping legs were taking me, not to mention whatever I had in my hand was now flung across the room. Still frantically screaming I found that IT WAS STILL ON ME dangerously on my left hip ready to scurry up under my garment top. I had to gain enough control of my limbs to fling it off. So with what remaining consciousness I had left I swiped it off. I hopped onto my bed and burried my face into my hands trying to catch my breath while I watched Jon terminate my attacker with a shoe. I listened for the girls as I was certain that my screams had woken the entire neighborhood, but to my amazed relief they hadn't stirred. Still in a bit of a shock of this disruptive episode I half laughed half cried knowing I wasn't going to get a wink of sleep...I tell you this story this morning with the report of accurate predictions and a sleepless headache.
The image you see here is considerably larger than the actual perp.
Where does it hurt?
3/14/05 Lauren's cough continues, and after her heartbreaking cries of, "I don't like my cough." I asked her where it hurt, thinking it could be either her throat or her chest. She said, "Right here." Then mouth wide open she pointed to her throat with her entire hand in her mouth and her finger at the back until she gagged.
2/19/08 This morning, we are eating breakfast when J interrupts the brief silence with a small basement burp. Without missing a beat, Lauren says, "What do you say, Daddy?" He excuses himself, then still in her motherly tone adds, "We don't fart at the table do we?"
Junk Food
9/16/08 Yesterday Lauren learned the difference between junk food and healthy food. So this morning, when she saw Rissie with a piece of candy, she said, "Mom, can I please have some junk food?"
2/9/08 Today Lauren asked me to redo her hair because it was "falling off!"
Cookie Dough
L: (in her sweetest voice) "Mom, can I have some cookie dough please?"
M: "Sure."
L: "Well," pause, "do you think you can get it from the fridge so I can like it?"
4/20/2008 So Lauren got some gum (not a fan) for being a good girl. Later, Jon asked her if she had swallowed it. She said, "No." Then he asked if she threw it away. She said, "No." So he asked her where it was, she told him it was in her throat.
L. and R. have been singing and dancing to their new piano that plays fun tunes. L. has been learning them and singing them around the house. A few days ago I overheard her sining, "Mary had a little sheep, little sheep, little sheep,...
Finding the Moon
Lauren shouts, "Grandma, there is the moon!" She started singing Twinkle Little Star, but in the mean time we had turned the corner and she soon discovered it was gone. So she tells Grandma, "We need to find another moon." 01/13/08
Kids are the best source of laughter
- I was getting dressed and L happened to be there and as I reached for my br_ she asked, "Mom, you put your b__bs on?"12/07
- R had gotten in trouble for something, then after some reflection L said matter of factly, "Well, she's learning."12/07
- L just told Jon to look at her stomach then lifted her arm, pulled down her sleeve, and showed him her armpit.12/07

That cockroach is horrible! Does he have friends?
That cockroach is horrible! Does he have friends?
I am feeling itchy now like there is something crawling on me. That thing is huge.
Chills...ugh...that is not cool. FYI I think we got rid of our bedbugs
AHHH!!! I started squirming as I read your account! Ewe! I can't quit feeling crawly. The last time you told us about your cockroach, I thought every big beetle I saw was one and it made me paranoid. Oh, Gross! I am freaking out right now!
Ewww!!! That's disgusting!! This time it really WAS a cockroach and not a hair clip! I wouln't be able to sleep either!
I felt creeping things while reading that...disgusting! On my mission in Bolivia, we had the hugest, most disgusting cockroaches...we'd have to turn on the light and wait for them to scram before we stepped in to avoid the crunching under the shoes...I never did get used to the disgusting-ness!
I can't get rid of the chills after reading that! It reminds me of that part of Bird On a Wire where Goldy Hawn takes a shower with "the cockroach from H*#@". I thought it was bad when I found an earwig in my shower scrubby-thingy; you win!
I had one of that guy's friends crawl up my leg while I was in the shower once...no garments to protect myself that time.
YUCK!
that just got my adrenalin rushing and I wasn't even there! GROSS
That is so disgusting! It reminded me of a cockroach-infested house I lived in for a year in California growing up. It was a relief to move. I can just say that my reaction would've been about the same. I hope you don't find any more.
